Information on your matrimonial profile might not be safe!

I apologize in advance, as there is some information that should have remained private, but I had to keep it open so that people could understand that the situation here is serious. I’ve nothing against any person or any corporation, the information here is in the Public interest and it does affect many people. I apologize again, nothing personal.

I’ve this habit of trying different social apps, Tinder, Scout, Happn, Badoo and many more. I install them for a while and remove, though I didn’t make many connections these apps, but that’s a different story altogether. Don’t judge me for my choice of apps ;)

Now onto something serious! Just yesterday I came across this app — NaughtyDate.

It took me a minute or 2 to get started. The app asked me about my gender and age, 5 multiple choice questions and a photo - which I decided to skip. My account was ready and I could see there were many people/profiles and all looked like real people.

Just after 2 minutes, I realized there are many faces I’ve already seen. It got me curious and I decided to open some of those profiles and what I saw there was little strange — those girls had their income mentioned, their family details, whether they want to work after marriage or not and on top of that, some of those profiles were created by their family members. Weird, I thought at first, but then I realized. I’ve read some of those descriptions too, and that was a shocking moment. I’ve seen some of these profiles on Shaadi.com — Yes I’ve that installed as well , get over it. So I started to compare few profiles and yes people I was right!

In the images above, you can see similar details in those 2 profiles, though there are few apparent changes, like name and description, which I believe was changed recently by the users and the profiles (probably system generated) on NaughtyDate app are still using old data. But we can’t deny those are the same profiles. I’ve seen at least 10 familiar faces, so it can’t be a coincidence that all those people on shaadi.com have same profiles on NaughtyDate app.

So yes people, your data on shaadi.com is not safe! It’s a hack? Is shaadi.com sharing your information with dating apps? I don’t know, but in either case, it’s a big mess. I’ve seen both premium and free profiles from shaadi.com on this NaughtyDate app. It’s sad, people pay these (matrimonial) companies and share all their personal information and they are supposed to protect that information.

I can see photos and profile information on NaughtyDate app, which also offers premium service if we want to connect with a user, who knows, they might have contact details of these shaadi users and might make it visible once someone decides to pay.

Data from my own shaadi.com profile could be there, if I sign up on this NaughtyDate app as a female member. It’s something serious, and just in case it’s a hack, then things are even worse. What if your credit-card information is also leaked (if you paid with a card and shaadi.com store those details).
