Who’s In and Who’s Out

One of the fastest-growing sectors of the NFT space has been the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) which is the web3 equivalent of the .com. Your .eth address will become your personal identity in the crypo-centric future.

In April there was a huge increase in the registration of numerical ENS with 3, 4 and 5 digits, e.g. 741.eth, 3372.eth and 44644.eth and online communities quickly evolved around them.

However, despite this sudden rush people have been registering ENS for years and some had looked at what people collected in real life, and transposed that to the ENS space. Not surprisingly, Pokemon was one of the first collections and many Pokemon names were registered (now they are all registered).

Less than a week ago I turned my thoughts to a possible collection of Harry Potter ENS names, but unlike Pokemon where there is a single name per character, in the Harry Potter world there is a lot of scope for different spellings and words, and also a question of whom should be included.

I created the Harry Potter ENS Club on Twitter and identified who I thought should be included. I’m going to flesh this out here.

JK Rowling’s wizarding world was originally based on the 7 Harry Potter books, but the Cursed Child play and the Fantastic Beast movies have significantly increased the number of characters.

For the Harry Potter ENS Club I decided on the following rules:

The list was originally 135 characters and of these, around 71 had already been registered by Potter fans, or saavy ENS investors. Over the course of a few days, I amended the list to 140 characters, all of which were registered within 48 hours.
