Republican Senators Choosing To Retire And Not Run In 2022

There are five who have made an announcement

They will leave their positions at the Capitol

The Capitol of the United States of America, the nation’s capital of Washington, D.C. was the site of much turmoil and chaos in January. When the election of Joe Biden was being certified by Congress on January 6, 2021, followers of Donald Trump stormed the Capitol. They caused damage and destruction. Deaths and injuries resulted from the happenings of that day.

MAGA people, egged on by Trump as he criticized Mike Pence for not doing Trump’s bidding, staged an insurrection at the Capitol. It was a horrific day with terrible consequences. Trump accepts no blame.

Many U.S. Senators stay in their positions and keep running for reelection even in their advancing years. Three of them are not that old. This time, they decided to retire. They are probably wise to remove themselves from the contentious Senate so that they can enjoy life without so much hate and division.

Senators who have served for a good number of years often mention the fact that they used to get along with people from the other side of the aisle without the hate that exists now. They could disagree but still be friends. They lament the fact that there is so much division among their ranks in Congress.

The 2022 elections will once again be interesting since Trump will try to exert his influence in the primaries and the general election.
