In the last few months, I’ve lost three loved ones; one to cancer and two to Covid. Coupled with the subsequent grief, I’ve also had to deal with this sensitive and delicate issue of forgiving someone who passed away.

Following many sessions of therapy with a clinical psychologist, I’ve learned various strategies that have helped me move closer towards inner peace and healing. I’d like to share these strategies now with you below.

Forgiveness is internal. You don’t have to fix anything externally. Plus, you can’t reconcile with someone who has already passed on anyway. So, it’s up to you to fix your emotions and create a balance of some sort.

Without forcing yourself, without judgments, or resentment. That’s how you move on and let go of the anger and accept what happened for what it is.

But you have to remind yourself, forgiving is about you, no one else. If you deny yourself the chance to go through the process and work through your feelings, you make it harder for you to be happy. So, why deny yourself the chance at inner peace and healing?

You deserve to go on to do great things in your life. Being alive is a blessing and forgiveness is the best way to make the most of it.
