The Culture Where Men Masturbate in Public as an Act of Worship

It was believed that doing so would bring about an abundance of water and a great harvest

According to ancient Egyptian mythology, the creation of the universe was a result of masturbation by Atum (the god of pre-existence and post-existence).

The people believed that replicating the practice every year would somehow please their god Atum. Also, it was believed that the number of times Atum ejaculated had some kind of connection to the flow of the river Nile. So, subsequently, every pharaoh — during his reign, was required to partake in the ritual which was to take place at the Nile river.

The masturbation ceremony involved the pharaohs and other males. Each year, during the feast of Min (the annual festival to celebrate the continued rule of a pharaoh), the general public would accompany the pharaoh to the shores of the River Nile where the ceremony was to take place. On reaching the river Nile, the pharaoh was required to take off his robe and begin to masturbate.

While pleasuring himself by the river bank, he had to ensure that the semen from his ejaculation poured directly into the river. During the process, the rest of the men with the pharaoh would join in on the masturbation and ejaculate into the river as well.

Because of this mythology, the inhabitants of the land were convinced that the masturbation ceremony was the source of their livelihood. They believed that as the semen dropped on the waters and flowed along with the waves, so would the land flow with an abundance of life and a great harvest for the people of the land.
