Antonyms
There are 2 two words that we need to understand clearly. Social Distancing and Congregation. Somehow people do not seem to get it clearly. They are exact opposites. And if we follow Social Distancing and unfollow congregation for next few weeks, we will all get well soon.
Many of us are not in the front lines handling the patients or stocking the shelves of warehouses and stores. But we are all part of this fight. All we need to do is Just Stay Put. We need not 3D print ventilator parts or stitch masks, but if we can that is absolutely great. We do not need masks or ventilators if we just stay home. This makes it available for people who need them the most.
Somehow religious congregations (exact opposite of Social Distancing) keep happening. I (used to) visit temples every week. Its part of my routine. Helps me stay grounded. Last few weeks I do not go anywhere including temples. Some are calling this virus the wrath of God. May be it is and I don’t care. But please do not celebrate it by congregating physically. Use technology. And majority of us at the moment see the health workers and other personnel helping us as God. We need to help them to help us. And we help by staying home.
Yes, when we are done with this, there will be many data sets out there to see which community, demography, race, caste fare better. And there will be winners and losers. We need not bring out our prejudices now, just get out of the way of people trying to help. Sadly, we cannot fix the issues now.
