How To Be Patient In Tough Times

Being patient in tough times has its benefits

I have always been a person that never had much patience in me. I never really appreciated nor paid attention to anyone that told me to be patient in times of trouble. This was always gibberish to me and I always looked at myself as a realist that had no time to cling onto senseless hope or putting off the inevitable under the disguise of patience.

As I grew, however, I slowly started to realize that these things that always got me impatient were never as bad as I pictured them out to be when they came to pass if at all they ever did. Nevertheless, the fear that caused my impatience was always there causing me to think that this realization of mine was useless. Even if I knew that most of the time these were never going to be feared that actually came to pass, I constantly lived under their torment.

My biggest fear that caused me a lot of impatience and did come to pass was when I failed and was expelled from school. This happened when I was 17 and I had lived with this impatience for 6 years. I come from a family full of smart people, each of my siblings had ranked at the top on the national standard and to make matters worse, poor grades and expulsions from school were unheard of in my family. So when I, the firstborn of the home was expelled from school, I thought this was the end for me. I was a school prefect at the time and news got around fast that I had not made the grades. But I did not really care about this. I was scared that my dad was never going to talk to me again but what caused me the biggest fear and impatience was which school I was going to go to next.

Up until this point, I had attended the finest schools in the country and I was scared about how I was going to fit into a school meant for people with grades poor as mine was. I was also worried that this was going to affect my dream of being an engineer. This caused me so much anxiety and impatience. I bit my fingers down to the nerves so much it was getting painful… Long story short, I used a few techniques that I am going to tell you here and these helped me to get into one of the best schools in my country and I ended up even studying my dream (civil engineering) in India and I am an engineer today. This is what I did that may be useful to you.
